IMAGES AND PHOTO RESTORATION

The scenic country side of Starksboro, Vermont brings you to the current home of On-Going Ideas, a computer based business started in 1978 and located in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Our launch product was software developed for the Government Services Administration to automate the request for proposals process on the 3M/Linolex computer.

In 1979 On-Going Ideas purchased our first of many Apple personal computers and started developing utility software and compilers for the Apple //. In 1983 the business started selling Apple // clones and peripherals (disk drives, monitors and printers). In 1986 we added computer education and training to our portfolio. The business added Apple Macintosh and PC hardware maintenance, support and upgrades in the 1990’s. In 2005 we added digital restoration of art and photographs, conversion of photographs, slides and negatives to digital images and custom photo printing (up to 13 x 19 inches) on a variety of surfaces (watercolor paper, canvas, foil, card stock and photo papers) to our available services. Our original artwork, photographs and giclée prints are available digitally or in a wide variety of print sizes and media.

Color Management
Quality prints require color management
All of the equipment used in the production of our prints have been color calibrated. This allows us to match the colors seen by the camera or scanner, to the colors on the computer display, to the colors put on the paper by the printer. We use:
Fade resistance
There are many reasons that photos or artwork fade over time besides direct exposure to sunlight. To ensure our custom prints last as long as possible we use acid free paper, genuine ink, and a UV coating.

Prints
Ink

We use genuine ink ordered directly from Canon. Using genuine ink allows us to use standard printer calibration profiles for any image printed on the paper provided by the printer manufacturer. Since Epson no longer supplies ink for our printer we purchase a high quality pigment ink from Europe and create custom print profiles for the ink on the specific papers we use.

Standard Photo Prints

For standard photo prints on glossy or matte paper, we use genuine paper ordered directly from either Epson or Canon.

Custom Prints

For custom prints we use paper or canvas products that are well respected in the industry and verify that they are acid free, compatible with the ink being used, and compatible with the UV coating being used. We also use a custom printer calibration file specifically made for the material and ink combination being used.
